Associates, LLC provided surveying and engineering services for the design, permitting and construction of this new retail
building located on a one acre parcel in Vernon, Connecticut. Because the new building and parking lots
utilized most of the developable land on this parcel, our engineers determined this project would be an exceptional candidate
to incorporate a Low-Impact-Development [LID] design for the management of stormwater. Instead of designing
a large stormwater basin that would take up a significant amount of the developable land on this parcel, the parking
lot was designed with a permeable surface. This allows stormwater to penetrate the parking surface and be cleaned in
the gravel below the parking lot; meeting the State and municipal requirements for stormwater management while preserving
the necessities of the use. When this building was constructed, this was the first and only parking lot
of its kind in Vernon.
Gardner & Peterson Associates, LLC was responsible for
the site design for a 105,000 square foot air supported structure containing turf athletic fields for sporting events and
a 30,000 square foot building containing a fitness and aquatic center. Gardner & Peterson Associates,
LLC provided services including a conceptual site layout, detailed site plan, internal traffic and parking design, utility
coordination, storm drainage design, and erosion & sediment control plan. The design plans incorporated
requirements from architects, soil scientists, and traffic engineers to create the final product. Gardner &
Peterson Associates, LLC performed a major role in obtaining approvals / permits from Town of Tolland Design Review
Board, Inland Wetland Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission and the Connecticut State Traffic Commission.
During construction, Gardner & Peterson Associates, LLC performed field surveys for the layout of improvements, inspections
of the storm drainage system and provided an Improvement Location Survey of all site improvements as required by the
local municipality.
Gardner & Peterson Associates, LLC provided
surveying and engineering services to receive local approvals and permits for the construction of a new Young Men's
Christian Association (Y.M.C.A.) community athletic center. The design of this project considered the needs of the Y.M.C.A.
and the preservation of the community atmosphere and the inland wetlands located on the property. Gardner & Peterson

Stop & Shop Plaza is a large shopping plaza encompasing over 238,000 square feet of retail space. Approvals were
